We are almost done with the school year! Focus on finishing off the school year well and getting everything done on time and turned in. A new game that Mrs. Foote invented last week was Croquet Soccer! We went to a soccer field nearby, set up some 'wickets' using small soccer goals, shoes, bags, and water bottles, and played croquet with soccer balls. We stuck to the normal rules of croquet, but instead kicked the soccer balls through the 'wickets' and took up the entire soccer field with our game so we had to practice some long range shots. If you scroll through their main page, you can see that they have a wide range of videos to do which include dance, beginner workouts, ab workouts, butt workouts, HIIT, yoga, no equipment cardio, etc. Because of the wide variety of workouts available on this channel, you can pick and choose something you may be interested in. This week, we are posting another phone app you can use for some exercise ideas. Phone App #2: 7 Minute Workout - Fitness App This is another free phone app you could download on any device to get workout ideas. It is called the 7 Minute Workout because the workouts start at 7 minutes in length. Some of the workouts are longer (~20 minutes), but the point is that you can pick and choose different workouts to do in the same day. Maybe you want to do the 7M warm up, the 7M arms, the 7M butt, and the 7M core workouts to achieve a full body workout. If you want to keep it as an arm day, maybe you instead do the 7M upper body, 7M chest, and 7M arms. You can look at the workouts beforehand and if you don't understand an exercise, there is a YouTube video linked to each exercise so you can have instruction on how to do the movement properly and safely. It is crazy to think that today was the day we were all supposed to return to school after what was originally a temporary school closure. All of us teachers wish we were able to be in the building, but it is imperative that we keep one another safe and healthy at this time. The running program perfectly goes from this week until the last week of school so it would be a cool thing to work towards before summer break. It also provides just simple running workouts if you are just looking for some type of physical activity irregularly.
Hello again Patriot Family! We hope you are all staying safe and not getting too bored while being stuck at home! This week is supposed have nice weather so we encourage you to find a way to get outside for a walk, a bike ride, some yard work, or play a game with family outside. This week, we have posted three more YouTube links to some 30 minute workouts. Also, we encourage you all to be creative in different ways to stay active. One way the Foote family stays active is by playing footgolf around the yard or in any large space. You just pick a target and count how many strokes (kicks) it takes for you to reach your target. If you do not like soccer, you can play with a frisbee, whiffle ball, football, or whatever other sports equipment you have at the house. Try to be respectful of other people's property while playing, but this is a favorite summer game of the Foote family. Have fun, get outside this week, and stay active!

We hope you are all finding ways to stay busy during your quarantine. Some of the stuff I have seen a lot of people doing are puzzles, video games, crafting, and a lot of walks around the neighborhood. This week, we have a few YouTube links for some workouts you can do at home. Two of the links are core exercises and the third link is a full body HIIT workout. Nike+ app is free to get on your phone or device. Although the app is free and most of the workouts are free, you also have the option to buy the premium package which gives you access to more workouts. I have the free app and it contains a ton of great workouts so I don't see the need to purchase the premium package. I love doing these workouts in my garage while streaming one of my favorite shows. You are able to choose workouts based on your interest. You can browse workouts that are either focused on mobility, strength, or endurance. You can also use the filter ability to help narrow down your interests. For example, I do not have full equipment at home so I use the filter so that I only see workouts that require no equipment. I have included some pictures below so you can see how the app works if you are interested. Welcome to our first week of online learning! All of us PE teachers miss our classes and our students. Right now, physical activity is definitely hard to come by. Sports are cancelled, gyms are closed, and it is frowned upon to even go outside your house. Our goal is to give our students different options of physical activity that people can do at home, in their backyards, or around the neighborhood. Each week we will be posting different links to websites for workouts, YouTube channel workouts, or other ways to access physical activity at home. Please feel free to browse through the links and find one that interests you. We hope you are choosing to continue physical activity and that you make it your goal to accumulate 30-60 minutes of physical activity everyday or 5 hours total each week.
