This will be my last post on here for the school year! Woot woot! I hope you are all doing well and excited for the summer months! This weekend we finished the substructure of our deck and get to begin laying the actual decking down which will be so nice to have our deck done before summer!
This week, I am sharing another YouTube Channel that has a wide variety of videos. Fitness Channel #2: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpQ34afVgk8cRQBjSJ1xuJQ/featured This channel is called MadFit. Maddie leads you through a wide range of different types of workouts. Some of her playlists consist of No Equipment Workouts, Partner Workouts, 30 Day Summer Workout, and my favorite, Knee Friendly Workouts. Take a look at some of her videos because she has a good variety. I might do her 30 Day Summer Workout this next month!

Hello Dance and Yoga People!
This is the last week that you will be required to turn stuff in, but I hope you all continue to pursue fitness until next school year! Miss you all so much and I wish I was dancing with you all in the gym, doing outside yoga, going on walks in the woods, and playing fun games in the gym. Today I am posting a different type of dance fitness. I have included a link to hip hop dance tutorials so if you watch the video, you will then learn an entire choreography for different pop and hip hop songs. They are pretty fun to try and actually can become quite a workout. Dance Fitness Channel #7: Dance Tutorials - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8LaBH9v0bSEcEFck0RAfeg This is unlike Zumba, because you are learning actual choreography. Matt Steffanina will walk you from the beginning of the songs to the end with an entire hip hop dance routine, with practice, you will learn an entire cool hip hop dance routine to current day songs. It is a fun option if you want more of a challenge when it comes to dancing! Hello Dance & Yoga Family!
Isn't it crazy we made it to June? I can't believe summer is so close right now. With summer getting so close, some of you may start to get a little antsy and excited to be done with schoolwork. I encourage you all to finish off the semester on a high note by still finishing all your work and interacting with your classes so you have nothing to worry about going into the summer. Yoga Channel #3: Ekhart Yoga – https://www.youtube.com/user/yogatic So many different playlists on this YouTube channel. You can look at yoga playlists by focus, style, duration, and specific body parts. Be warned though, some of the videos may be difficult for beginners of yoga. Before starting a video, I would suggest scrolling through it quickly to make sure you are capable of doing the majority of the poses. Hello Patriot Friends!
Isn't it crazy that it is already the end of May!? Where has the time gone? in just a few more weeks, online learning will be completed and summer will be upon us! This week, I am sharing a YouTube Channel that has a variety of different fitness videos. I think it is a great channel to share with you all so that you can change up your workout routine a little bit. Fitness Channel #1: https://www.youtube.com/user/popsugartvfit This channel is called POPSUGAR Fitness and has a wide range of workouts. If you scroll through their main page, you can see that they have a wide range of videos to do which include dance, beginner workouts, ab workouts, butt workouts, HIIT, yoga, no equipment cardio, etc. Because of the wide variety of workouts available on this channel, you can pick and choose something you may be interested in. Hello Patriots!
I hope you are all finding ways to have fun and stay busy! This last week Mr. Foote and I played some of our favorite invented games called Whiffle Ball Golf and Bocce Dice. We also bought and learned a new tabletop game that we really enjoy. I hope you are all finding ways to stay physically active, Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but also for your mental health, which is super important right now. Below is a suggested YouTube Channel for some more dancing. Dance Fitness Channel #6: Zumba - https://www.youtube.com/user/lovezumba This channel is from the actual Zumba company. Fun dances that are heavily focused on Latin-esque music and dance moves. Upbeat, fun, but can be challenging. Hello Patriots!
This time of year is my favorite time of year. I usually love the spring because the weather starts getting warmer, summer is getting closer, students are excited for the end of year festivities, and teaching PE is more fun than ever. Usually I am working on developing an awesome farmer's tan and sock tan, sweating so much throughout the entire day, and having a blast with my students. I am extremely sad that this year is different. I wish I was outside with my students playing sports, doing outdoor yoga, and going on neighborhood walks. I hope you are all finding someway to make this current situation feel like regular life and that you are being safe. This week I am sharing another Dance Fitness YouTube Channel that I think you will all enjoy. It heavily uses hip hop songs and other pop songs and the dances are usually super fun. Dance Fitness Channel #5: Club FITz - https://www.youtube.com/user/DawnLaurenFitness Almost all of the songs on this channel are part of the hip-hop genre. Some of the artists include A$AP Ferg, Migos, Busta Rhymes, YG, Blac Youngsta, etc. Be prepared for a lot of hip hop dance moves and a lot of hip movements in each song. Sometimes it feels like you are dancing in the club! May the Fourth be with you! Thanks for everyone who has been reading emails and exercising! I have been enjoying reading about what activities you all have been up to in order to stay active. I am jealous of some of you who have been able to play sports with family members since Mr. Foote and I are the only ones staying at my house. I have posted a new Microsoft Form that will be due May 15th. I have also attached a rubric so please have a look at it so you know how you will be graded from here on out. Workout App #2: "Yoga | Down Dog" - This week I am giving you another phone app you can look into if you want more ideas. The phone app is called "Yoga | Down Dog". Right now, the app is free for students and staff until July 1st. This is an awesome yoga app that will give you a wide range of yoga options. You can choose your type of yoga, your level of yoga, the length of the yoga flow, and even how long you want to stay in corpse pose. The app also keeps track of your overall practice/minutes of yoga that you do each day, week, or month. It is a very cool app if you want to continue to pursue yoga during this time. I have included some screen shots so you can see how the app works if it sounds interesting. I just found this app so I may give it a try this week after a run! Hello Friends!
It blows my mind that today was the day we were supposed to return to school after what was originally supposed to be a temporary closure. If I had known that we would not be returning to school, I would have let all my students know how much they matter, given out a few hugs, and maybe would have sent you all away with an abundance of "Questions of the Day" to keep you busy during quarantine. I keep thinking about you all and I hope you know that I miss you all just as much as you probably miss your friends and school. I hope you know that all of us teachers want to help and support you during this time. You all matter to us and we all care about each of you. Below is another YouTube channel that you can use for your daily physical activity. If you haven't seen any of these videos, you are really missing out... Dance Fitness Channel #4: The Fitness Marshall - https://www.youtube.com/user/TheFitnessMarshall The Fitness Marshall goes all out and loves to make his dances sassy and sexy. I promise you will have fun and/or be laughing while dancing with the Fitness Marshall. Every time I watch these videos, I end up cracking up at his faces and some of the dance moves. I highly suggest doing some of these dances with family to really get some good laughs. Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed a great spring break! I am sure you all enjoyed your vacations to exotic places around the world and that you are all looking super tan. Welcome to our first week of new learning! First thing you should know, is that I sent out an email today that details what the rest of the semester will look like. Please, please, please read it and make sure you understand everything that is changing for this semester. If you have any questions about the email, please feel free to email me whenever if you have questions. I will continue to post different physical activity suggestions on this website for you all if you are getting bored of going on neighborhood walks. We will start using Microsoft Teams for posting your weekly physical activity. I have been told you all have access to Microsoft Teams with your Microsoft 365 accounts so you all should be able to access and see what is posted regularly. Dance Fitness Channel #3: https://www.youtube.com/user/sarahplacencia Sarah Placencia has some awesome videos and playlists. I really like Sarah’s videos and have memorized and taught many of her dances in class before. She has good mix of popular songs and other Zumba songs. She also has some dance toning videos which require light hand weights and focus more on strengthening than cardio. She also has posted various body weight workouts you can do from home as well if you don’t feel like dancing one day. Honestly, this channel is a well rounded channel that allows for a wide range of different workouts. Couch Potato to 5K running program! I am going to include a file at the bottom of this that details out a running program that starts off fairly easy and by the end of the program you should (hopefully) be able to run a 5K. The running program perfectly goes from this week until the last week of school so it would be a cool thing to work towards before summer break. It also provides just simple running workouts if you are just looking for some type of physical activity irregularly.
Hello Patriots!
I hope you are all doing well and surviving another crazy week. Mr. Foote and I are getting a bit stir crazy but are finding ways to stay busy and entertained. This week, we are supposed to have some nice weather so we are looking forward to doing some work outside! Doing yard work outside usually always counts as physical activity depending on the work being done! This week is the last week of our 'continued learning' and we will begin our 'new learning' on April 20th when we return back from our 'Spring Break'. If you have not heard yet, the high school teachers are working on developing assignments and other work that we will begin grading starting April 20th. Obviously, for us PE teachers, these assignments are going to look a little different and we are still trying to figure everything out and work out all the kinks. Please be on the lookout for an email from me with more information in the next few weeks. This week, I am posting both a Dance Fitness channel and a Yoga channel from YouTube. I have been having fun finding different videos and then also trying them out as well. Dance Fitness Channel #2: LIVELOVEPARTY.TV – https://www.youtube.com/user/livelovepartyTV This YouTube channel has a good mix of current popular songs and the typical Zumba type songs. Most of the dances I looked at and tried were easy to learn and had easy moves, which included a mix of Zumba like dance moves and typical dance fitness dance moves. Yoga Channel #2: Yoga with Adriene – https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene Adriene has numerous yoga videos of varying length, for various purposes, and varying types of yoga. Adriene has also put the videos into playlists based on length and types. There are a lot of options to choose from on Adriene’s channel and many of them are flows that focus on mindfulness and calming the body and mind. Hello again friends! Hopefully you have enjoyed your time in quarantine. In order to stay busy and not get bored, I have been going on walks, playing Animal Crossing, watching movies, working on puzzles, crafting, and playing board/card games with my husband. I hope you are all also finding ways to keep busy! This week, I will be providing you with a yoga YouTube channel and a workout app you can get on your phone. However, you can look at the other class tabs to find workouts that might interest you. I know Mr. Anderson has been posting some body weight strength exercises and the other teachers are providing other ideas for fun workouts for the Team Sports and Freshmen PE tab. Yoga Channel #1: Fightmaster Yoga – https://www.youtube.com/user/lesleyfightmaster Not at all what it sounds like. Lesley does a great job leading you through various types of yoga that will make you stronger, more flexible, and calmer. She has different playlists for different purposes you can choose from including Yoga Fix 90 which is a 90-day yoga program, Yoga for Beginners 30-day Challenge, and Hatha Yoga Joy another 30 Day Journney. Workout App #1: The Nike+ app - This Nike+ app is free to get on your phone or device. Although the app is free and most of the workouts are free, you also have the option to buy the premium package which gives you access to more workouts. I have the free app and it contains a ton of great workouts so I don't see the need to purchase the premium package. I love doing these workouts in my garage while streaming one of my favorite shows. You are able to choose workouts based on your interest. You can browse workouts that are either focused on mobility, strength, or endurance. You can also use the filter ability to help narrow down your interests. For example, I do not have full equipment at home so I use the filter so that I only see workouts that require no equipment. I have included some pictures below so you can see how the app works if you are interested. Welcome to the first ever week of digital learning! I honestly miss school right now and especially the Dance & Yoga classes. I miss the question of the day answers, the goofy stories from your weekends, and all the fun conversations we have in class. I obviously miss working out with all of you every other day and find it quite boring to work out by myself.
Right now, physical activity is definitely hard to come by. Sports are cancelled, gyms are closed, and it is frowned upon to even go outside your house. My goal is to give you all different options of physical activity that are related to our class. Each week, I will be posting a link to a different Youtube channel or playlist that you can browse through and participate with in order to stay physically active. If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to email me! YouTube Channel #1: REFITREV - https://www.youtube.com/user/ReFitRev All of REFITREV’s videos have songs that are clean and don’t have any inappropriate content. Even though they have clean songs, the songs are still super fun and the dances are easy to follow. Some artists they have dances to include Katy Perry, Nick Jonas, Sia, Bon Jovi, The Backstreet Boys, etc. They do a variety of songs, but I have found that most of their songs are a lot easier to follow and learn than other dances. If you are looking for an easier workout, then this channel is for you! They have recently started a daily COVID-19 challenge that has some strength and cardio workouts that last less than 10 minutes. |
